Nurse Wendy's Uniformed Sea Bath

As Winter descends once more on Langstonedale, here is a reminder of Summers past, Nurse Wendy in full uniform, with a little help from Evelyne in her PVC catsuit bathing costume, playing in the water, and a little mud, of one our favourite East Coast beaches, away south of Marsh House, where miles of unspoilt sand, with mudpools revealed at low tide, stretch into the endless distance.

Wendy, wearing one of her uniform dresses over an already wet swimsuit from a previous dip in the water, first plays in the shallows with Evelyne, they sit in the water and splash each other, and then throw liquid mud at each other, with Wendy enthusiactically covering herself completely in the sandy mud, inclduing her hair.

Then the two women enter the sea proper, playing and splashing in the surf as the waves come ashore, both getting entertainingly slapped by the water in places. Wendy washes the mud off her dress in the seawater, and she and Evelyne play and frolic in the waves of the incoming tide.

Swimsuit Catsuit

Evelyne absolutely loves the seaside, and any trip to the beautiful beaches of the East Coast, out beyond Marsh House, have to involve going into the sea for a paddle. But being a Saturation Hall girl through and through, she doesn't really approve of modern swimsuits. Those are fine for wearing as underwear under a nice gunge outfit, or even as playwear in the dungeon, but when going into the sea in public, she can't help thinking people really should wear just a bit more. So her favourite swimwear is her sleeveless PVC catsuit! Ideal to wear both in the water and on the sand, the shiny black surface looks equally good wet or dry, and the wetsuit-like effect of the water it traps helps keep warm on a typically breezy British beach.

Evelyne, who was in her mid 40s when this set was shot, has been Cook at Saturation Hall for many years, and is mistress of all she surveys below stairs. Between them, she and Prudence the housekeeper effectively run the household.

Technical: The video for this scene mostly has original ambient sound, with wind, waves, and occasionally the bass beat from a music festival which was being held a few miles away. In a few places where there were loud comments or instructions from the director, the sound has been muted, although this has been kept to a minimum. The video is in 1920 x 1080p full HD, and is just under seven minutes long.

Chastity goes for a paddle and wallow in the river wearing a vintage 1970s blue denim jumpsuit and union jack wellington boots. She gets completely soaked from head to toe and spends a good long while playing in the river soaking wet.

British Summer Beachwear 2012

The summer of 2013 is unusual, with the entire kingdom bathed in brilliant sunlight and a heatwave sweeping across the wilds of Langstonedale. But 2012 was rather more typical, with downpours, showers, drizzle, and all the miriad other ways that rain can fall here. Even the glorious Diamond Jubilee for Her Majesty was a day of continuous rain. This inspired our gardener, Chastity, to come up with an entirely new, and completely practical outfit for fashionistas, or at least those who follow Langstonedale's water-friendly styles, to sport on the beach. Of course any beachwear has to be able to be worn in, as well as about, the water, so Chastity took to the river in her new outfit to properly test it.

Chastity wears a black bikini, dark blue waterproof trousers, dark blue waterproof jacket, big black rubber gloves, and union jack wellies, and goes wading, paddling, and lying down, in the clear waters of the river below the Hall. Towards the end of her paddle, she unzips her waterproof jacket for a bit, and then zips it up again.

PVC and Boots in the River!

As our resident water gardener, Chastity likes to spend a lot of time in the estate rivers, getting a real feel for her work. During the warm summer months, she frequently goes for a dip in whatever she happens to be wearing, which can be anything from her working overalls to her best formal dresses or even fancy club gear.

Today she's decided to take a bath in the river wearing a sleeveless PVC catsuit and New Rock boots. She starts out shiny, and gets even shinier in the water!

Wet Formal Chastity

Chastity swaps her usual working gear for a beautiful sea-green formal outfit, floor-length skirt and matching sleeveless top, and then goes for a lovely swim in one of the deep pools of the river.

Technical: Note the video for this scene is tripod-shot and not as close up as some of our more recent productions, in particular Chastity initially wades into the deep pool quite far from the video camera. You can still clearly see her wading into the water and it rising up her clothes, but she's 20' from the camera. However she then comes up close, soaking wet, and plays and poses in the water directly in front of the camera. This was one of our very first attempts to include video in an outdoor wetlook shoot.

Chastity takes a smart skirt uniform into the river. She wears a navy blue knee-length uniform skirt, a full-sleeve pale blue uniform blouse, and shiny black boots, and starts off posing in her pristine outfit, before sliding down the river bank on her bottom, getting faint mud stains on the back of her skirt in the process. Then she wades into the river, and we watch as the waterline steadily rises up her skirt as she steps deeper. Once she's waist deep, she ducks, paddles, and floats with her boots on the surface, her clothes totally drenched in the water. To finish, she poses, soaking wet, on the bank again.

Uniform Wetlook Study with Prudence

Putting a smart green skirt uniform to the wetness test

Join Prudence, smartly dressed in bottle green knee-length skirt, pale green blouse, and black leather boots, for a slow and careful fully dressed hosing down, as she checks if this outfit is suitable for Hall staff to wear wet.

As regular visitors know only too well, any visit to her ladyship's remote and rambling manor house is liable to involve at the very least a thorough soaking or two. The hall servants go about their work in the full knowledhge that they can expect at least a couple of fully clothed drenchings a week, and indeed are provided with plentyful spare uniforms, and spare time in their working days, to allow for drying off and changing time. During the heat of the high summer months it's common, and indeed encuraged, for drenched retainers to simply carry on with their work in their wet clothes. So of course it is very important that any new uniform anyone wishes to wear is thoroughly tested for suitability to be worn soaking wet.

In this case, Prudence the Housekeeper has come up with a rather fetching ensemble in shades of green, which she proposes to wear instead of her usual shiny blue and black uniform, when her day calls for her to spend significant time outdoors, for example at her ladyship's annual garden party, or the yearly local girls' mud-wrestling tournament, both of which are held in the Hall's grounds, and at both of which Prudence usually finds herself pitched into a vat of gunge, in full uniform, at least once.

So here she is, all green and formal, taking a very thorough hosing down at Modesty's hands, just to be completely sure her new outfit will look good when she clambers out of one of the estate streams or water troughs wearing it, as she invariably will eventually.

Denim Hosedown Time!

Sometimes, you just have to hose someone down. Especially when what they are wearing isn't remotely waterproof!

Modesty enters the dungeon in blue jeans, long-sleeve t-shirt, and blue denim jacket, plus blue and white striped wellies. Ok, so wellies are waterproof - they'll fill up nicely when the hose goes down her jeans. :)

Splish splosh, Prudence breaks out the hose, and Modesty soon starts to feel soggy as more and more of her outfit feels the touch of flowing water. The hose goes down the front of Modesty's jeans, and she gets wetter and wetter, ending with her entire outfit totally soaked. The dripping wet denim jacket comes off part way through and she finishes the set soaking wet, still being hosed down, in jeans, t-shirt, and boots.

Modesty wears traditional high-waist jeans for her drenching.

A denim dip in the river

Dressed in blue denims, dark t-shirt, and lace-up black plimsolls, Chastity first takes a lemonade shower on the riverbank at the hands of Maude, and then, soaked to the skin in fizz, she plunges into the river for a fully clothed swim, denim jacket and all!
